Handmade Steel and English Elm Coffee Table

This table is sturdy and made from 40mm x 20mm mild-steel tubing, tig-welded and hand-sanded to a ‘brushed steel’ finish. Upper and lower sections are connected using stainless steel thread and bolts. The steel frame is then protected using a clear, matt metal sealant to maintain a natural patina and prevent surface-rusting. 

The table-top section is made from English Elm. It is hand-sanded from 80-220 grit and then coated with a clear, matt Osmo Poly-X oil. This is a non-greasy hardwood treatment that seals the wood and aids durability. It is stain/mark resistant to most household foods/liquids.

As our design style is ‘industrial’, the steel we use in our frames, whilst of the highest quality, may contain minor surface imperfections. We believe that this adds to the style of our work.
